Instructor Training Program Begins!
Become a naturalist and mentor by stepping into an ancient lineage of earth centered cultures. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the development of new instructors for the CCVC and to offer a rewarding learning experience and potential life path to participants. This program will be facilitated by CCVC staff who will conduct an entrance interview and application process with which we can guide and tailor this program to meet the needs and desires of the trainee.
For more information about this new program contact Tyler Hartford @ (805)459-4092 Tyler@theccvc.org
Hello friends and families of the Central Coast Village Center!
This year we are very excited to be offering more programs and activities than we have in the past! Our small non-profit is growing up and looking toward the future! There are many opportunities for involvement for any age.
The programs that are currently scheduled over the next school year can be found on our Calendar. In addition there is a lot of inspiration around seasonal celebrations, informal community gatherings, adult workshops and speaker presentations, our mentor training program and more?
Kathleen, Mac, and Tyler are joined this year by assistant mentors including board member Lindsay Pera who will be taking over the Soggy Bottom's Tag Along program for the younger kids! Donna Helete is stepping into the position of Executive Director (as we all breathe a collective sigh of relief). Marie McRee is helping out behind the scenes (though obviously star material) and Susan Pendergast is in the most sacred position of fundraising chair!
Whether you've been a consistent participant from the start or are new to the Central Coast Village Center, we take this opportunity to invite you more fully into our growing community. We hope to see you when programs start up the week of September 10th.
In spirit,
The CCVC Crew

What's New
During the past months, the CCVC community has begun in earnest to raise funds for scholarships, operating expenses, and the launching of new programs. We pulled together a radical rummage sale and the best booth ever at Children's Day in the Plaza. Families sold raffle tickets for two organically beautiful baskets of donated goodies and wildflower seed packets graciously given by Bolger Seeds in Lompoc.
Future fundraisers planned are wildflower seed and nature guidebook sales at local Farmers' Markets, a signature community event: Autumn Harvest Nature Festival, and participation in grocery scrip programs. The Fundraising Committee is always open to creative solutions to the financial issues facing grassroots efforts such as ours and welcomes participation. (Anyone have ideas for procuring another, much needed van?).
Besides events and activities to generate new money, CCVC is getting all of its organizational ducks in a row so that we are eligible for grant funding from the myriad of foundations and individuals wishing to support environmental, educational and children's concerns. Proposals are in the works!
Please contact Susan, Fundraising Chairperson, at svetapendergast@earthlink.net with your creative input.
Public School funds reach the Nature School!
The CCVC has contracted with Olive Grove charter school so that as an Olive Grove student you can attend 1 day of Nature School for a fraction of the annual tuition!! This is an incredible opportunity for both organizations and our families. To enroll in Olive Grove and the Nature School contact: Jesse Lleyva jesseleyva@sbceo.org, 693-0610 ext.26 (Office), 245-8204 (cell)

July 2005 - Jon Young talks about Coyote Mentoring
Thank you to all of you who came and supported our first big event at the CCVC field station in Los Osos. We had an amazing turnout of adults and children who came to hear our mentor Jon Young talk about what coyote mentoring is really all about. Your generous donations were much appreciated by Jon who has devoted his life to mentoring children and adults. (For more info about Jon check out www.jonyoung.info).
There was so much interest and feedback to want to ?know more? after this talk that we hope to offer a weekend cultural mentoring workshop sometime in late fall, keep checking back for this!

June 2005 - Great article in the New Times
